I've seen it a few times but only actually one time while hunting and if that HUGE 8 point would have had the other half of his rack he'd have been dead. Instead I watched him breed the doe at ohhhh, I don't know, SEVEN YARDS!!!!!!!!

Yep, watched a little 6-pt mount up one evening, and wondered where the he11 the big boys were at that time. Also snuck in, but never got a shot on a real nice big brute of a 10 that was tending a bedded doe, and watched while a little 8 and 6 tried to sneak in on her and the big boy would run them off time after time. Had the doe not been staring me down, I think I could have walked right up on them, but she wouldn't let me get any closer than about 50yds. She kept tensing up like she was gonna stand, so I held tight and just enjoyed the show. This was also the first time I ever heard a snort-wheeze. And let me tell you that big boy was MAD!!!!

I haven't seen it, but this past rifle season my brother watched a decent (by our standards) 8 point chase and mount a little doe about 40 yards in front of him. He said he mounted her three times, the third time he was in an opening where he could shoot. He said as soon as that old boy got off her and all four hooves hit the ground he dropped the hammer on his .270 and dropped the buck in his tracks. I guess if you are gonna go..haha
