Hopefully this makes for good debate.

As we see here, MANY guys try that latest and greatest gadget that will try to give them the slightest little edge at getting that big buck.
So where is the line between trying to use the tools afforded to you, and complete grasping at straws? Is it sad that a guy will spend hundreds of dollars on all kind of things that he hopes will get him a deer? Or is it noble, that he's doing everything within his means to be prepared?

I think its more on the pathetic side......oh forget it, I was going to go into a huge thing about certain products but it would just get the thread locked. Do whatever you enjoy. The best gadget you have is between your ears. Nothing will help you more than that.

after few years doing this addiction ,for me its prepared couse getting a deer is easy,but honetsly in the beegining was just get the best i can so i dont have to have the peer pressure and the urge to upgrade and its worked for me .
ps and that was using the thing between my ears

I'm not really sure if it is pathetic or noble.. but I would venture the guess that it could be based only on the individual who is doing said things to take a great deer.

I don't use gadgets.. the compound is about as complex as I get. Don't get me wrong I will use what needs to be used to get the job done but I firmly believe that to hunt a specific animal you must know that animal.. I've never seen a gadget that helps me know the animal.

And with that said.. I don't believe I'm pathetic for knowing my quarry.. but rather a student with great admiration.

I'm along the lines that less is more! I used to be the next best thing kinda guy trying to keep up with the jones, but I'm over the hype of buying into that, not for me anymore. My barebow and arrows tipped with sharp broadheads is all that is needed to get the job done, that and a Thermacell of course![8D]

Its not pathetic if you can afford it .evryone is going to have a different opinion and thats expected ,unless its obvious and logical most wont agree and thats what makes this intresting.

I really don't care what anybody else uses or buys. I only care about what works for me. Until recently, I've worn the same hunting clothes/camo pattern for over 20 years. My heavy hunting jacket is 21 years old. I shoot an 11 year old bow, aluminum arrows, fixed blade broadheads and use a grunt call.I don't use any scent killer products, I just hunt the wind. The right wind. The biggest thing that has increased my success is studying deer behavior. What they like and what they don't like. I do not rely on gadgets.

Everybody hunts for different reasons and the same can be said for what they chose to hunt with. Is all the fancy gadgetry needed on your bow and in your pack, no! Is it wrong to have it, no. To each his own! Just hunt!

I don't rely on gadgets to make me a better hunter. But I do like trying new things just for fun. I've never bought something and thought "Now I'll get that big buck!". When I buy the latest and greatest gizmo, it's just a part of the experimenting process to see if I like it better or worse than the stuff I currently use. To me that's part of the fun of bowhunting - trying new things.
