I was thinking........ And then I tried it.. :)
I have shot the Rage 2 blade into the Morrell target and noticed that to blades weren't fully open upon entry. So I thought of something that would hopefully fix the problem.
What i was thinking.
What if I ditched the rubber O rings and just put one of those orthodontic elastics on the Rages (like the Snipers).
I wanted to try that out.
Heres what I did to try it.
I shot one rage 2 blade with O ring into the Morrell target, next I shot another 2 blade but this time with the O ring and elastic on, last I shot a 2 blade with the elastic only. All arrows were shot at a distance of about 5 yards.
Here are the results
2 Blade with O ring
Blades not fully open upon entry of target.
2 Blade with O ring and elastic
Same results as with O ring only.
2 Blade with elastic.
Blades fully open upon entry!!
Next thing I want to try is to see if 2 Blade with elastics only will open in flight when shot at further distances. This is the only thing I am concerned about. Another thing I am considering of doing is making a small grove in the "wings" were the elastic will sit and weighing them to make sure they all weigh the same.

thats very interesting. I remember 5shot(?) that does the broadhead testing, stated that "Completly Full" deployment was not achieved when shot into an orange.
Ahhh. here it is....
Ahhh. here it is....
Orange: partial opening on the front, complete opening upon exit.

Honestly, that's not at all a real life test. The blades are beyond fully open on live game thus the larger entry hole VS exit hole and these type of comments come from ignorance and I don't even use Rage but I do Snyper with the Elastic (rubber band) O ring.
It wasn't to get the blades to open, they open period, it was to keep them unnecessarily closed. (Ignorance).
See above ().
all that just to get the blades to open, why don't you just shoot a muzzy fixed blade and forget about it......????
muzzy?? ppphhh........Steel Force!
lol jk
cool test though!
sorry VA....just had to

Oh I'm sure they will be fully open when shot at a deer i just wanted to see with the target. I measured some of the hloes and when I shot it at an angle the hole was a nice 31/2" hole.
