RE: Deer Camp. Who still does it?
The cabin sits on 10 acres in Muskingum County OH. We have friends who boughtneighboring properties to combine for 105 total acres of private, withBlue Rock state foreston the other side of the road. Notice the orange vest in the window, a must during gun season as the cabin sitsWAY back in the woods

RE: Deer Camp. Who still does it?
Here is our camp. It was my fathers pride and joy and where I grew up.It hascame a long way since it was built in '85.
Dad added vinyl sidding and a tin roof............no more patching every winter...
The apple tree are in the side yard, I planted them with dad when I was 14.

RE: Let's see your deer camp.
Beautiful view Ben, I love that part of the state for that exact reason. Your view looks a lot like the Bradford County valley that runs between South and Armenia mountains.
Awesome camps everyone, and a great thread. Let's see some more!!

RE: Deer Camp. Who still does it?
This is the camp we used to rent ('70s/'80s)from the owners who live up the road from it. It was called "Cobblestone Camp". It was made from the rocks (cobblestones) that came from the creek behind the camp.
I haven't been back up there in a lot of years, but the memories will NEVER fade. I'll never forget how I would look forward to hunting up there!! We wouldsee bear, turkey, grouse, and a ton of deer. The cabin is still there. It's in Bradford Co, not far from Towanda,Pa. State Game Lands #36. Kellogg Mtn/Stone Mtn were right there, near the little town of Powell. How I miss that little cabin.
Sorry about the pic quality, it's froma scan.

RE: Deer Camp. Who still does it?
An aerial view of my camp from 2 years ago. It looks a little different now, there are 2 more cabins where the campground used to be and some new docks as well. It's my business, but also my "Huntin' Camp."

Wow- some of you fellas have some pretty nice places. I'd love to have a place on the water like that.
Dan - how many buildings do you have up there?
Ben - our camp used to look a lot like yours - until we lucked out and got a siding job one summer on a huge garage. The guy told us that we could keep all of the old stuff, if we could salvage it.
Before that, it was a mishmash of rough-cut lumber, tarpaper, celotex, and scrap plywood. We had sheet metal covering the bottom 1/3 to keep the porcupines from eating a hole in it. The area where we're at is loaded with porcupines.
Very little remains of the original building - as we've basically torn it down and re-built it. I remember one year, we pulled in for the big buck season trip, only to find that Camp Gunsmoke slid down the hill off of its blocks. So, we had to use the car jacks to prop it back up. LMAO I think that was the sign that it was time for a major remodeling job. It's pretty solid now, but due for a new roof.
