I would loveto shoot a big buck every year, I have shot a few big bucks in my day, but not every year. However, if I don't kill one every year and that happens more than not, Im not disappointed. I really just set the goal first every year to take a deer with the bow, after that is done, I want to try for a nice buck if possible. I don't go ape sh*t trying to kill one, but I do put time in the tree as much as i can. The last 2 yrs have produced a 95", 100", 110" , 115" with a bow, this fall may produce does, so I will live with it and be thankful for what I have taken in years passed

I enjoy the challenge of the hunt. It's fact it's harder to harvest a mature buck. Simple as that, no bragging, small penis, and I am no better than the next guy.

I love looking at big whitetail antlers it's almost like porn and I want some of my own. Thats why I spend so much stinking money on this sport travelling out of state we don't have what I am after here in FL. but I say shoot whatever makes you happy I have alot of buddies who kill some nice deer here and They are just as happy killing a 100" very nice buck here as I am going to our lease in GA or to the midwest and killing a p&y buck, but for me I am addicted to big racks and I want one of my own over 150".

I've always referred to hunting mature bucksor as I call them "old" bucks. The headgear is usually a byproduct of their age but not what I am after first and foremost. So for me personally its simply matching myself up with a deer thats been aroundthe block a lot ofyears andattempingto hunt and kill him. The motivation is like nothing else for me. I have given up/made a lot of sacrificesand passed on a lot of social activities, sports, recreations, etc because for me, nothing can hold a candle to how hunting an old buck makes me feel. I just love every part of it from finding one to scouting him to breaking him down to finally setting up and trying to kill him. The oldest buck I've ever killed scored 40 points less than my largest scoring buck... which one am I most proud of.. BOTH exactly the same, they were both mature and savvy old critters that eluded a lot of hunters for several years. They both made great table fair and I have a deep respect for those old boys that outlast/elude most hunters. Finally I'll say this as I always say, shoot what makes you happy and don't worry about the antler hype.

I have no jealousy over any hunters buck. I congratulate them with a hand shake, pat on the back and if I know they guy a beer or two. Its nice to see the big bucks on a tailgate.
I hope you don't think I was referring to you. By no means I wasn't but I see allot of what I was talking about here in Minnesota.

the accomplishments in the end are much more rewarding to me being I mastered that buck.
No disrespect at all, but there will always be a lot of luck involved in "mastering" that buck. If luck is involved, then mastering is a big word to use.

Just my opinion.

LT
I agree LT but allot of hunters make there luck also. They work there ass off, put in allot of tree time, hours of scouting, passing on smaller bucks, years of expierence and learning, etc!

Just my opinion.

I guess some people are justconsistantly luckier than others.

I agree with Shultzy, we make our own luck!!!

How many of us would still hold out for that 150+ deer if we knew absolutely no one else cared? Some...yes....many?....no.

Note: its not a criticism, just an observation! I probably would lose all interest in antlers too!
