Been seeing alot of guys talking about the one shot practice but,
Do you really believe that the one shot practice is better than say shooting 4-5 arrows at a time? I am not knocking your method just trying to understand it.
I feel that if you shoot 4-5 arrows in a row it will help you with your form and get you in a rythym and make you a better shot in the long run. I try to shoot as much as I can, i know one shot is likely all you will get at a deer, but why not shoot as much as you can while practicing? I have heard some people say that you concentrate on making the shot count when its your only one. But I feel if you are practicing the right way you will try to make every shot count no matter how many arrows you shoot. I would feel better practiced with having 50 quality well placed shots rather than one. Again not bad mouthing , just would like to hear some reckoning....

I think what was meant was the first arrow you shoot is like the one you'll be shooting at a animal.Meaning your first shot should be on the money cause you'll likely only have one at a live target.

When I pratice I shoot one arrow, retrieve it, shoot it may do this 20 to 30 times a day

Shooting more arrows is not necessarily better for you or your form.

Let me use an old bodybuilding analogy....The great British bodybuilder Dorian Yates once said that a single rep of your max is better than doing multiple reps over and over again. Why did he say it... well he compared it to nailing a nail into a piece of wood.....if you were to drive the nail all the way in in one hit or two hitsmax, would you keep hitting it over and over and destroy the wood??? NO you wouldn't. same goes for your body and shooting the bow.... Now, there are times when reps are good whether your shooting or lifting b/c it builds endurance, but to shoot over and over and over again especially in the same day, can do more harm than not.... just a thought.

What alot of these people are speaking of is when it comes down to the week or two before season, go out and shoot just one arrow at the target as if the target was a deer.
This is after a long pre season of shooting and practice. In which case shooting one arrow should be right on the money and you should have no need to shoot anymore!
I will also try to do this as well but hold the bow back for a minute or two to train your muscles in case it happens in the woods!! Also I believe the holding the bow back should also be practiced throughout the year while in or at the end of shooting round!

westernmdhardwoods hit the nail on the head. shoot a bunch during the spring/summer, but once you get closer to the season and in the season, I only shoot one or two arrows a day if that, it's not that Im ignoring the practice, but I practice a lot during the off season and if I can go out and shoot two arrows bulls eye from two different spots/angles, then Im money. I usually do it before each hunt, 1,2,3 shots max before I go in the woods. this = about 3 days a week during the season.

I don't know if this will make any since to you or not but when i shoot my bow during the summer i shoot 6 arrows at one spot on the target, but come closer to deer season i go out and shoot 4 arrows a night .Meaning that thiers four bulls-eyes on the target each bulls-eye i pretend i'm shooting at a deer so i get one shoot at each one that way i can tell if i need to shoot more are not i hope this makes since to you .
