My favorite target is a bale of hay. I don't use square ones though I use the big round ones and usually shoot at the sides of them instead of the front or back. Arrow removal can be a little tough sometimes, but you can't beat a free target and you have a target big enough its almost impossible to miss I've usually got over a 1000 bales so I can keep swapping them out all year long. I've used numerous things for targets on the bales such as just a small piece of duct tapeon theside of thebale. It doesn't have to be anything fancy you just need a spot to aim at. If you aren't a farmer I wouldn't recommend them though because hay is getting really expensive.

Yeah a round bale of hay is around the $50 mark. Just as well buy a target.

The last targets I built, I used 2X4's to build a frame(square or rectangle)your choice---Cover the front and the back with carpet, leaving the top open to put in the stuffing, Which I got at theGood Will Storeold clothes they could not sale--I think the big box full was 5or6$--Stuffed it at tight asI could thennailed the opening shut. After a while therags settle just flip it over and they will go back in place.

I used a rubbermaid tote. I cut the middle of the lid out so that it was just a frame. I stuffed the tote with old carpet and whatever else I had on hand. I put cardboard over this and then snapped the lid in place over the cardboard. I print out free targets from the internet and tape them to the cardboard.

It has held up well. I just have to change the cardboard out once in a while. This might make me incredibly cheap, but I would rather put money into the bow.
