Mods if you have to move this feel free, but I thought it would make for some interesting discussion during the offseason. Just wondered what everyone's take on Gas prices are.

When will it, or will it ever stop? I heard yesterday that Oil is expected to hit $200 a barrel and Gas to top $7 a gallon.

I am sure this affects several facets of our lives as well as hunting. My biggest expense in Turkey hunting 3 states this year was not food, tags, or lodging. It was simply put $$$ for Gas!![:@]

What's the answer? Now it affects our pocketbook when we fill up, but eventually it will affect everything we buy.

What in America is not dependant on Gas or Diesel to get to where it's going?

Dan

I'm pretty sure we're already seeing the affects of high fuel prices on hard goods, shipping, airfaire's, etc...

BTW, don't forget Dan, I'm running a diesel which is higher yet than regular gas for some unknown reason...It's a byproduct...

I wonder how much onlya .25 raise in fuel affects USPS? Fed Ex? UPS? much less the kind of raises we have seen the last few months.

I think eventually the government is actually going to have to do something. Maybe when we get a President that isn't getting all his money from the big oil companies back home. If they don't, it will ruin this country. Gas goes up, everything else goes up-we are already seeing it- but the average guys paycheck stays the same. Sometime or another we're headed for hard times...

Building refinerys is a huge part of the answer but, unfortunately, no one wants one in their backyard. Plus there is no real incentive for them to be built and a ton of hurdles to get one built.

Think of an hour glass - One end is oil and the other end is oil consumers. The current refinery situation is the middle of the hour glass.

Edit: Drilling for more oil anywhere still won't help because we still have the refinery bottleneck.

Gas is $0.12 per gallon in Venezuela. We also import more crude from them than OPEC. There's alot more to gas prices than just the crude. The Saudis and Venezuela are cutting imports to do their best to make sure a Democrat get elected. If that does happen, they know the fight against terrorism will lessen, the US will leave Iraq, Islam will gain virtually complete control in the Middle East and they will redirect all of their efforts to shoving Israel into the Med.

I work fpr UNIFIRST which is an uniform company and I drive 180 to 300 miles a day,and we have had to raise our prices twice this year and I expect another one soon, our customers and all of the other companies customers are taking a hard look at the cost of keeping theirworkers in uniforms and this could really put a crunch on me if I start losing bussines because they deside to cut cost.

We need to start producing more oil in the good ole USA. I went today and filled the tank in my F-150 and the bill was 95 bucks. Maybe instead of buying the low grade crap from Venezuela we could start pumping outta South Dakota and start hitting Alaska a little harder. Nothing ticks me off more that knowing the Middle East is getting richer while we are struggling.
Stop voting in those left wing environmentalists [>:]...... there is more oil between Alaska and the US Coastlines than in all of Iraq ...... we aren't allowed to go after it .........[:@]

Gas is flat out ridiculous. I am going to Nebaraska in the morning to turkey hunt. I filled my toyota truck up today and it was $55 which is the highest I have ever had to pay for that truck. Regardless, it is cheaper than most trucks, it is outrageous for a 4 cyclinder. There has to be something we can do!

We already have quite a bit of oil in ND,SD, and Montana, not to mention Alaska, the Governer of Alaska Sarah Poulin has stated the oil is available...so what do we do import it from OPEC and Venezuela, the reason why is the oil companies are importing is a reason to drive the prices sky high..
Are we to think if we refine our own oil that comes from US sources...that our prices will suddenly drop and we will all be saved from the evil oil companies, and gas will drop to 2.75 a gal...the prices will just go up and up...the oil companies have gotten a taste of (blood) big money soit won't matter the oil comes from...
