How many "whole days" do you get to hunt?
In an average bow season, how many "full days" do you get to hunt?
That includes:
[ul][*]Weekend Days[*]"Sick" Days[*]Vacation Time[/ul]
__________________________________________________ _______
I just looked over my logbook from last year: 9 full days wereavailable until I filled my last tag. That included a lone vacation day that I had left.
One wedding, one day scouting, and a day of rain -cut 3open days from my hunting schedule. So while I had 9 to start with, I only spent 6 full days in the tree.
PA archery season is only 6 weeks, no sundays - so I normally would've had 6 days to hunt (plus 1 vacation day), but I bought a NR license in Ohio where I could hunt Sundays. That bought me an extra 2 days in the tree.
Starting sometime soon, I should be able to save some dedicated vacation time to hunt the rut. That will be clutch.

I'd say least 15 days out of the season are all-day hunts. Usually take a week of vacation, at least 2-3 full weekends plus any comp days I accrue during Sept-Nov.

I organize my life so I can hunt. My work is arranged so I can get time off to hunt. I took the whole month of Nov and the last week of Oct. off last year.
I have to travel to hunt to I need to get extended times off. No morn or evening getaways for me.

I have alot of "whole" days I can hunt, but I won't due to my family. I just got a new job 3 years ago that lets me take off a couple of weeks in November. The last two years I probably hunted about 6-7 full days a year, and that was around the first two weeks of November. Prior to that, I probably hunted 3-4 whole days, the rest of my hunting time was just when I could get a quick 3 hour hunt or so.

Usually just Saturdays for me. I hunt the evenings all the time, but I seen alot more buck movement this year in the morning...so I think I will be hunting the mornings a little bit harder this year!

I just e-mailed a spreadsheet in with my vacation times on it last night... a week for elk (beginning of Sept.) and a week for deer (end of Oct).
Then there'll be another 8-9 days taken here and there depending on weather fronts, temperature, etc. There'll proably be another 20-25 miscellaneous mornings or afternoons (usually afternoons; I'm just not a morning person) that'll get thrown in there, too.
There's a reason I started gearing my career several years ago towards outside sales... I've sat in on more than one conferencecall from atree stand. Heck, my final interview with the Regional Sales Vice President with my current company took place from 22 foot up an oak, and I watched forkhorn walk under me less than a minute after we hung up.

King, im in the 31+ on the poll. I work 12 hour days swing shifts, so the most i work in a row are three to four days in a row. I get 8 days off straight every month plus some 1 1/2 to 2 day weekends in between. I have 5 weeks of vacation to work with and i use two-three of them for hunting. Im getting 31+ easily. By the way working swing shifts suck [:'(]
GregH, thats pretty cool having a conference call in a tree

I'm to the point I'm trying to take about a 1 week trip out west every year, depending which tag I draw or can draw....
this year it should be antelope, last year it was elk, I also hunt deer locally, quite a few long weekends....
maybe one day sooner than later hopefully I'll hunt more than 1 hunt out west in a year..... it surprises me how many guys do like 4 different hunts in a year out west.....course living out there may make some hunts more available. I think 1 or 2 hunts out west a year, for a week a peice, would be awesome, plus some homestyle local deer hunting each season would be ideal/perfect,
though to add, depending on the places in north america or the world, you can be hunting from august to january etc.....so it wouldnt be like taking an entire month off of work just to hunt.

Like Greg, I have been able to spend a lot of time hunting, etc because of sales jobs over the years. The only bad thing is that my current job istracked on monthly quota (as compared to quarterly)..........so unless I hit an absolute home run in the first few weeks of the month it's difficult for me to take any time off in the last two weeks of the month and plan for it ahead of time.
I hunt the first two Saturdays in PA, then from the middle of October till the first full week in November I hunt Saturdays in PA and Sundays in NY. Then I traditionally take off work the first full week in November as well for a 9 day trip and split this between PA and NY. That is usually it unless you count a day or two during rifle season, and a 4-5 days of hunting turkeys.
