Pope And Young Club
How many of you are members of the Pope And Young Club? As for myself I'm a proud member of the P&Y club for 10+ years, I am an Associate member and I plan on moving up to a Regular member in a few years! You do not need an animal to qualify for P&Y to be a member. The only requirements to join and be an Associate member are to have taken at least one adult big game animal with a bow within the clubs definition of rules of fair chase. An example would be a Doe for whitetails, it doesn't have to be a P&Y buck to be a member.

I'm still up in the air on the P&Y club. I haven't shot a qualifying buck yet, and even if I do I don't know if I'll enter it/become a member. I realize it is a club, and as with other clubs membership dues are required. However, to register your animal and have to pay for it to be in a "record book" doesn't make sense to me. Michael Jordan didn't have to pay to have his achievements recorded.
For those that are supporters of P&Y, pleasedon't chastise me. Number 1 because I said I was still undecided on this, and number 2 that will just make what little interest I have in it diminish. If you want to tell me the benefits that is fine, maybe you can convince me.

I intended to join, but thought that you had to have a qualifying animal...so it's good to know that you don't. After getting my 07 buck I became interested and called one of only a few scorers in our area to get my buck officially scored and entered, but it was at the taxi at the time. Now that I have it back, I may follow-up and try again. I also talked to him about becoming a scorer and you'd have thought he won the lottery he was so excited. Seems they don't have nearly enough and are worn pretty thin running around performing their volunteer duties. Personally, if I were a scorer, people would be bringing their trophies to me, not me going to them.

No. I am not a big fan of the P&Y club lately due to their extreme stance on crossbows. Somewhere along the way they turned into an elitist organization.I also do not agree with their position that a typical, symetrical rack is "superior".
