Sooo pretty much any hunter would meet the requirements ?

Im actually kind of interested.
As long as everything is legit and you've shot at least one big game animal with a bow. The nice thing is you don't have to shoot a booker to be part of the organization, so many people think that. It really is a good organization IMHO.

I should join the P&Y club.. I know it does some pretty good things.. honestly don't know why I haven't yet.

Don't know that I would ever enter an animal into the books.. but I should join just for their causes. I don't duck hunt anymore.. but still give to Ducks Unlimited all the time.

I don't want to take away from the thread but if you do not want to join P&Y you may want to look into this if you want to join an organization to support hunting.

http://www.safariclub.org/

I belong to two of my state's orgs, MD Bowhunting Society and MD Sportmen's Assoc. and likely will join a National club at sometime in the near future.

I do encourage everyone to join an org., if nothing more than to give them "numbers" when lobbying government, that supports hunting in some fashion.

I've never entered an animal or joined, but I should have. A great organization that was at the forefront for bowhunter rights and gave credibility to bowhunting more than any organization in history. I never understood them being labled as elitist. They established rules for their club which most bowhunters followed whether they were members or not and used as their standard for many years. It gave us structure.

Many modern day bowhunters scoff at their beliefs and standards because they truly don't understand the rules of fair chase...........its the anything goes mentality I suppose. Thats sad.

The reason I said elitist is not because they won't allow crossbow entries into their club book. It is because they are actively lobbying to end crossbow hunting in archery seasons. I do find it sad because it really puts a shadow over the good that they do IMO. Luckily for them my opinion isn't worth the air I use to express it.

Well said Cougar!! Huntingson I feel the P&Y has got to put guidelines in somewhere along the line otherwise "bow hunting" as we know it won't be "bow hunting" no more. If the P&Y didn't care one way or the other imagine what the bows and fair chase would be like these days! Ever think about that??
