RE: this is weird but..
I've never done it, but I was in Bass Pro one day looking at bows and a guy rightbehind me dry fired one. Scared the **** out of me. It sounded like someone shot a gun by my ear. I didn't see any visible damage to the bow. The guy who did it was pretty embarrassed and the archery pro was pretty pissed. There was a sign in the archery dept that read, DO NOT DRAW BACK BOWS. Oh well, I guess the poor guy overlooked it.

I can't believe what happened. My 24 year old son stopped by fora short visit yesterday for the first time since April. My other kids and I were going out to shoot our bows.My oldest was standing by me.I took my Drenalin out of the wall case, took the quiver off and laidit on the bed and turned around to get my hip quiver and five practice arrows. As I was clipping my hip quiver on, I heard an extremely loud CRACK! The little bone-head had picked it up and drew it back with his fingers and let it go (or it slipped out of his fingers).
I knew what had happened as soon as I heard the sound and I cringed as I whipped around and no kidding, saw two vibration dampers rolling across the floor. The string was broken and dangling and had wedged between the limb and the cam. Both of the string supressors were knocked loose. I have no idea how much damage was really done. I'm hoping my bow shop is open today.
I suppose I blame myself a little. I should have told him to leave it alone. Anyway, my wife said she thought I handled myself quite well. I fought down the urge to wrap my fingers around his throat and quietly took the bow from him, rounded up my missing parts, muttered something about "it was an accident... don't worry about it". Then I walked into the bathroom, locked the door and allowed myself a short, silent tantrum.

I was in bass pro getting my bow worked on and some kids (14-16yrs) were in there just kinda fooling aroud when... SNAP!!!The guy that was working onmy bow almost ran fram behind the counter to go see what happened and he was mad. I think he made them pay for it.
