Thanks everyone, it was an experience I'll never forget. Being that close to the bird, and then for him to let out that one last gobble so close, was amazing. If I wasn't hooked before, I certainly am now.
Tim, I know, I know...should of had the bow In my defense, my 101 isn't ready to be hunted with, and I did take this bird with no blind, and no decoy, so does that make it any better?

Thanks guys, I still get excited thinking about it. Actually was up near the spot this afternoon reliving the whole thing I just finished preping the fan/beard for mounting. Cleaned up the last bit of fat and then applied thick coatings of borax/salt mix, then sandwiched it between more mixture on foil backing, then placed the fan between two boards for curing. I'm a Tech Ed teacher, so I ought to be able to make a nice mount for it, otherwise I'm worthless.

Matt I know exactly what you were feeling buddy! I think I like this whole turkey hunting thing again.
For some reason I am seeing this is mainly a shotgun sport too......I think it's due to the damage that broadheads do to the body and feathers.
I'm one of those guys who would like to mount a good gobbler or 2 and I can't bear the thought of tearing one to shreds with a big broadhead. I'm sure I will at some point but carrying the shotgun is a fun change of pace too.
Congrats on a fine bird, I might go at it again this week somewhere myself, we'll see how it goes. I picked up that second gobbler tag this year and maybe I'll actually get to use it!
