Default Dan (bloodcreek) Update

Man, another tough day! We hunted our butts off from sunlight to 1 pm and still no bird to show. We sat in 4 different locations and even tried a stalk. Seemed like something went wrong every time. Either the hens pulled the toms away, or a bobcat ran them off, or they just quit talking. We were definately in the birds, but just couldnt get the job done.

We invited Dan to stay an extra day and hunt tomorrow. We are feeling really good about the mornings hunt. Not too long ago Dan and I wenta got some cedars and got a little set up all ready for the morning. We have been seeing two GIANT toms on the farm i live on. One has a big double beard and i believe Dan has his sights set on him. These birds have been in the EXACT same spot the past 4 days in a row, so hopefully they decided to do the same tomorrow. If we dont get them off the roost in the morning we have several late morning spots lined up.

Im going to head out tonight and try to get some birds roosted! Hopefully we can get it done on Day 4 for Dan!

Sounds like you had a rough day ... but thats what hunting's all about , at least you still had fun.
I hope you and Dan can connect on those birds tomorrow and tell Dan to get that double bearded one , good luck.

Yep, Dan has already made it clear that even if he doesnt connect on a bird, he has had one heck of a time! Its always fun meeting and hunting with new people. Hopefully we can put some icing on the cake!

I think Dan just likes being in front of the camera and is milking for all it's worth. You guys are gonna have to kick his butt back to Indy.

I'm still birdless myself too. Not much gobbling this morning, and I think there was only one bird roosted on my property. He only gobbled twice and I never got a true position on him. I tried to coax some off of the neighbors, but they liked it where they were. I'll be back after them tomorrow.

I also had a mushroom hunter stroll my property at 10:00 too. That don't help matters.[:@]After the hunt I found 32 shrooms myself.

I'm guessing you went over and advised him of the property boundaries... unbelievable. Get your own place and STILL get interuppted like it's public property.

I'd like to go mushroom hunting myself sometime; I've never done it. I'm wondering if it's something I could benefit from tagging along with someone who knows what they're doing and can point out likely places... I'll have to check into it.

I talked to Dink on the phone tonight and he says they got 2 monsters scouted out and built a blind where they have been hanging out, so maybe he will score in the morning. He did tell me his boy Dalton got a bird, first time with ole dad being with him.
