Has anyone ever had a problem with a mechanicals not opening?
I'm looking to geta new broadhead and was asking about getting a mechanical, it seems like alot of people are afraid of using mechanicals because they are worried about them not opening. Which i can understand because they have moving parts which makes it more likely to have somthing go wrong, but I dont know anybody who has ever had a problem.
So id like to hear if you or sombody you know has had a a problem where a mechanical didnt work when it was suppossed to.

Only the Rage 2 blades, they didn't open...but then again I have never owned or shot any so that's probably why. But what does that matter?

I used mechanicals for a couple of years.....did not have a problem with them. I am a paranoid person however so I switched to Muzzy's and specifically Muzzy MX-3's and really liked the damage/reliability they have to offer.

Being mechanical, the head will have a potential to not open. It has never happend to me in the field. I have tested a lot of them over the years and only in rare cases did a head not fully open. My advice would be to pick a head that matches your setup and tune your bow arrow combination first and formost. Then take every head you intend to hunt with and work the blades open and shut a few times to be sure the open properly. Be careful of judging how a head opens in a broadhead target. More often than not they open, but then close back when you pull them out or as the head comes to a sudden stop.

All six of my biggest bucks have been taken with mechanicals and all I can say is there are goods ones and bad ones out there just like fixed blades. I love them and will still shoot them. I shot the first ones with Wasp jack hammers and still love that head today but I will be looking at the grimrippers this year. Walt

I had the 3 blade rage head, the problem was the blades would pop out of the o-ring when you take the arrow out of your quiver.Which is ok if you stand hunt you just have to remember to pop them back in. In my case I didn't want to remember to check my broadhead when I got to the stand. Fixed blade for me.
