Winter has taken its toll

Winter has taken its toll
I went out to my parents house shed hunting this past weekend and did not find a single antler.
Unfortunatly we did find 4 dead nub bucks and 2 big dead deer all on 59 acres in western Wi.
For so many finds on such small acreage this does not look good for that area of Wisconsin.
So far they recieved 108" of snow for the season and what was left just finally melted last
week.
If their is one positive we counted about 40+ deer about a mileaway in a cut corn field.
Their also was still plenty of sign around my parents land but this just seem like a high numbered
death toll. Anyone else experience something like this?
Add the road kills we encountered in that part of the state I was kind of shocked.
I also did not want to take pics because it was just gruesome and I think it was the right thing
to do.

RE: Winter has taken its toll
I forgot to add also step father found another nub in the pasture that could not use its back legs the week
before. He tried for a few days to nurse him back to health to no avail.

Mother Nature can be tough, but such are the ways of our land.
The record snowfalls down here are the averages up north by camp. Only the strong survive and its evident in the body size difference between the two areas. This winter has been a long time coming and is a blessing in disguise, I believe.

Same thing in NH...
In the southern areas we had the second most snow on record = 118".
The central northern areas were closer to 200" - ouch!
I scouted on Friday and only found a jaw bone from a small deer, no sheds, but 25 ticks yuk!
Some deaths on the highways as well.
Mother natures a b*tch sometimes, but that's the circle of life and unfortunately we can't change it.
