Default Back in the "woods"

In the fall I get all worked up and a bit jealous of all you guys that get to go out after work and climb up in a tree to deer hunt. You haven't got to bust your ass to hike 5 miles or climb 2000' to hunt deer and I suspect that most of you get to spend a lot more days/hours in a season hunting than we do up here even though we live in a hunter's "paradise". It's just a freakin' ordeal to get out and do any real hunting here for all the planning and expense that's involved. Then I had to chuckle to myself... I realized this as I was sitting glassing for brown bears after work yesterday in a spot I had driven about 15 miles to get to and hiked less than a mile. It's a spot that in the past 10 years has produced 3 top 10 B&C bears that would shatter the current archery world record. As I was glassing the huge tracks coming into and going out of the valley I thought to myself, "Yeah, okay I guess I haven't got it so bad afterall..."

Good luck with those turkeys everyone!!

I think if I'm ever fortunate enough to have the opportunity to hunt brown bears with my bow, well, Kodiak I'll need someone like you with me telling me, " Its OK to be scared, just don't crap in yer britches!"

No you dont have it so bad, to get to hunt the animals you can hunt up there, like those browns, dall sheep, moose, bou, etc.. That is something most bowhunters will never get to experience in a lifetime. I would love to get to hunt those giant bears.
