What type of turkey call do you prefer -this will be my first stab at them in over 10 years - used to go a lot in Fla - never been In NC but that will change in two weeks

Looking at the K/H slate calls - opinions

I've used just about every kind of turkey call and my favorite is the friction call. I love a good sounding slate. Actually, I just bought a new one yesterday at Bass Pro. Heres a pic of it.http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0044656227977a.shtml It has a really nice sound to it. I also call naturally by mouth which has fooled a many of birds.

Best sounding slate I've heard to date...

Primos Jackpot

I use it with the "kee kee" striker, but the lucky striker it comes with sounds good too.

Maybe in this case I should have said I like a good piece of glass. Techincally, the one I just bought isn't slate.

You talking about the 4-in-1 call?

I'm really nota fan of KandH turkey calls, I just can't get them to sound good. Especially the alluminum and glass KandH. I know at gander mountain, and sportsmans (at least here) they have all the calls out so you can play around with them all.

I stink at slate calls, but the River Valley Enigma is a friction call that I can not only use, but actually call very well with. I am typically a box call guy, but this call is becoming a quick favorite for me.
