50% of all 3.5 yr olds?, Schultzy?

Just wondering....I'm not familiar AT ALL with your area.
Jeff so many of them around here are border P@Y. Anywhere from 120" to 130" at 3.5. I'm not going to call them 120" to 130" P@Y bucks, there too close to call. Maybe my percentages are higher then that, I'm just playing on the safe side.

I wouldn't know--I have hunted a public military base for the last 8 years or so......I would guess that the bucks that I have seen that I said "wow" to would probably be close to P&Y....I have seen maybe 4-5 in 8 years, and only a handful more of what I believe are 3.5 or older bucks...so maybe 50% of the bucks over 3.5 years old where I hunt would be considered P&Y contenders.

I'm going to say probably 60-70%but likely to be higher. The only reason I went as low as I did, is because Ido see a lot of bucks start out pretty small, due to what I feel is being born late. For those bucks, I think it's tough for them to hit P&Y by 3.5. BUT for just about any normal born buck, he'll be there.

What percentage of 3.5 yr old bucks (assuming they're carrying both sides of their rack with no points broken off) would GROSS P&Y in your area?

I would say 2-3%.....but honestly.....I've never seen one, to know.
So gross over 125 at 3.5.. just a pure guess and from looking over thousands of sheds and lots of 3.5 year old bucks.. here.. maybe 40% ...a lot of 3.5s here make about 120 gross.. I may be way off..

Not many on my properties.... Most 3yr olds will be close, but not quite make it..... The majority of 3 year old deer I see are your typical 15-16 inch 8pt with decent tines but not much mass... They usually score between 100-125.... An exceptional animal will break the P&Y barrier. Usually by age 4 you have a pretty good shot at netting P&Y
