RE: How tall a fence will deer jump?
GRRRR I have not received my issue yet.
But I now know why can you say EXPIRED![:@][:@][:@][:@]
I will renew but I have access online still.
I know my encounter with a 180" class buck that damn fence cost me him. Barb wire 6 inches above the fence and I hit it.
I usually see them jump your basic 4' fence if that is the size of them. Uneducated guess here.

I saw a small buck get cocky and try to "float" over a 5 foot tall fence and his back legs didnt make it. He got loose after about 30 seconds. I would have gone down there and pulled him off it if he would have gotten stuck.

When I was in the military I was stationed in MD. The place had 8 foot fence with double razor wire on top. I watched two deer leap over it. It was easily 9 foot. plus wide at the top. standing close they just hoped over. One hung up for a second but it was a smaller one. I'm sure it regretted it.
Impressive to say the least. I was only about 30 yards away too.

Deer can jump 8 foot fences but they don't unless they are extremely afraid. Even then it's a risky jump. Remember Texas... they protect their deer behind 8 foot fences and rarely lose a deer from a deer jumping.
