I took an hour drive last night after the Penguins game. A little different area - same story - saw at least 2 bucks with pretty respectable headgear still intact.

I think you're right Rybo - they're taunting me. [>:]

The King accidentally ran over a rabbit, and he feels a little bad about it. But his reign atop the archery world will continue. Fear not.

I haven't seen a deer with a rack since back in January. I went driving during a warm melting day a couple days ago. I covered a lot of ground and observed probably over 100 deer, no racks.

YUP, I think Tony is on to something pretty earth shattering.

Seriously, they usually hang onto them up through Feb unless they're stressed hard or injured I think. I read several places where there's no definitive reason or time they loose them. They say stress, loss of testoserone after the rut, body fatique from the rut, loose of daylightall add to the factor. If your deer are healthy, fat dumb and happy they may hold them a little longer. Up here in Snow country they're gone by the end of Jan it seems.

Loss of testoterone after the rut is the primary reason they shed their antlers.

We found 13 over the weekend but did see one nice buck still sporting both sides. The latest I have ever seen one carrying.
