The trophy is in the eye of the beholder.
The trophy is in the eye of the beholder.
I've got to hunt a few other states, Texas / Alabama, and bye far FOR ME, it's been my kills in NH that has givin'
me "MY" trophies. As I've done my hunting accomplishments myself and not with a paid hand.
My biggest deer was from Texas, but not the same feelings for me.
This past year's 2 1/2 year old basket racked 8 pointer with the .44 mag pistol has to be my highlight so far.
I've gotten other deer, Does and Bucks both with firearm and archery in NH, but this has to be my best hunt to date.

I would have to agree and say a matured deer that you have in your freezer. In my first bow hunting season last year I had a button buck in my sights at only about 10 yards away. I chose not to take the shot because it seemed too easy. It would've been my first deer but I feel better about not taking the shot. I caught heck for it at deer camp later and was told next that it would be if it's brown it's down. I said sure.
In my opinion it's got to be about the thrill of the hunt and getting in touch with your instincts. I plan to work my but off scouting for that big buck this year. Although, if it's a year and a half old spike it's down. lol. Hey, I need to get on the score board!

This will forever be my number 1 trophy. Mainly because he was the first mautre buck I ever harvested. It took me 12 long hard years to get that first mature buck and I scouted the area where I took this buck very hard and passed on this buck the year before when he was 2.5 years old. Obviously he's not a record book buck, but he is the ultimate trophy for me.

Absolutly not, that is his/her trophy....I will hi five them just as I would the guy who shot a 3yr old doe or a 5yr old buck with a 160 rack..
They too will learn as they get older to let thos yearlings go.
That last coment was my own opinion,Ive been deer hunting for 34 yrs and will not,I repeat Not shoot a spotted deer to fill MY tag.....Never have never will unless its injured and that hasnt happend yet...

This picture sums up my approach to hunting.
Its not about the Trophy for me and when i go to Colarado this summer , i will be over the moon if i just see an Elk ... Regardless of size , i will be happy with whatever is on the recieving end of my Rage 2 blade .
Great piccy Rob

This photo below represents a real trophy to me. It was the specific doe that Matt (Rick James) wanted me to tag. She was a smart dominant doe and when Matt saw her, in an excited voice he said, that's her.....it was a great hunt.
