Default Bucks that still have HORNS????ANTLERS??

A buddy of mine has a5pt coming into his yard every night still in western MD?
He says the horns are as white as can be, why do some deer hold on to their horns for so long or not lose them at all?? Shouldnt they have dropped by now?
Nutrition?

Thast kinda what I was thinking as well, but wonder why they did not drop?

So also in this thinking, the majority of bucks in this area whether be 1yr or 5yr old bucks never really have any potential for there headgear....does this mean that this 5pt will always be what it is?? I guess so if it never drops? Im just thinking out loud here!??!?
