Default Teach me FOC

My new total arrow (target)will weigh +/- 372gr.

tip and insert will weigh 111gr.

Arrow is 27.5" from throat of nock to end of carbon.

How do I figure FOC...and what does a higher FOC give me as far as an advantage? I think I understand this (Higher FOC .....if total weight is the same between two arrows....is 'better').

I'd like to know more about why.

Thanks.

Jeff, I went to a high FOC setup last year and was amazed at how hard my arrows hit, and actually to me I got better arrow flight. My arrows had an FOC of almost 22%. You honestly only see the benefits of the high FOC setup once you get to about 19% FOC. Trust me you can hear the difference when your arrow hits. It really packs a punch. The person to talk to about high FOC arrows is Aussieguy, he's the one who got me onto them.

Gold Tip has a FOC calculator on their site and you may want to go read the reports by Dr. Ed Ashby. They can be found on the Tradgang website. He does some great reports on broadheads and high FOC setups.

Thanks guys...

Using GT's calculator.....I have built new arrows that will have a FOC of 9.58.

You wanna know what the other ones were?

0.89 (That's not a typo)

Am I gonna like these new arrows?

oops sorry after I asked the question I saw the setup, sorry. The Ashby reports are still a very informative read. For Target arrows I personally liked to have an FOC about 12% or so, but thats what seemed to work best for me and my setup

Well I HAVE to think that 9.58 is better than .89!
