Teach me FOC

RE: Teach me FOC
So I gotta ask out of curiosity sake how lgiht was your point and how heavy was the back end on this .89% FOC arrow? I got around .96% with a 40 grain glue in point 3, 8 grain fletchings, GT pin nock and bushing and 28" x cutter shaft.
And cudos to winning several tournaments with that set up...that's impressive tuning and shooting.

I have no problem putting them inside my Gold Tip XT's so I believe they will fit inside any normal diameter shaft. Not so sure about the narrow axis type shafts though. But the brassinserts are a good way to go too.

You can also get 50 and 100 grain brass inserts from 3rivers. Be careful getting the PDP weights as some have a diameter that is bigger than the inside of a carbon shaft. Those are for aluminum.

RE: Teach me FOC
I'm shooting a 27" Xcutter shaft (7.8gpp); nock bushing (17.2gr); pin nock (2.8gr); x-vanes at 10gr ea x 3.
So......210.6 on the shaft + 17.2 + 2.8 + 30 is what's behind the tip. Tip is a 50gr. GT Glue in.
I used the GT calculator to figure the FOC.

I guess that shows that FOC is even LESS important than some people think.

RE: Teach me FOC
Why would it be imortant? Doesn't KE compute off total arrow weight?
If your bow is tuned....and your arrow is flying true.....why would it make a difference what your 500 gr arrow's FOC was?
Just curious.

RE: Teach me FOC
With a higher FOC the arrow is going to be able to take the straighest path through the animal more easily than a lower FOC which would deflect much easier, losing energy along the way.
The KE won't be any different but the loss of KE as it goes through the animal would drop off much faster.
That's just a thought that popped in my head, I don't know if it would actualy be true.
