I would like to know if he was lucky enough to have missed the ribs.
I have often said that speed will be the best for penetration on skin and hyde due to friction.Speed fights off friction but when it comes to bone hits, momentum is king.(check laws of friction)As speed increases, friction decreases.
I would be willing to bet that at the kinds of speeds this setup was producing that even that light arrow had a decent amount of momentum as well.

Those of us who are working most of the day miss all the good stuff!I missed a juicy debate about the need to kill elephants? It is not my thing, none of the African game animals do any thing for me but I understand the country is very beautiful.A good friend is soon to be headed there for the third time.
That penetration is unbelieveable,it would be interesting to feel the hand shock/vibration and hear the shot noise out of that set up.

Is elephant meat any good??

If you are starving to death because elephants have raided and pummled what little bit of a crop you were trying to raise... I'd suspect so.
There's enough of it to go around though.

I'm pretty impressed with the fact that the old Zwickey could fly straight at almost 400fps. Says alot about that head and the bowhunter's ability to tune a bow. Any particulars on the buffalo that was killed like shot placement, penetration, etc?

I'd say by the pictures it got the lungs.... ol' bright red frothy nose bleed.

Pretty sweet to get that kind on penetration.
For the other topic, I do know a guy who went on 2 seperate Africa hunts (which dont really do it for me either) where much of the game was pushed into the river with a bulldozer. Apparently they really have no way to handle all the meat the "hunters" shoot before it spoils, so they took a small amount and fed the crocks the rest. Among the animals that were pushed in whole was an adult cow elephant. From what he and a couple others have told me, that is by no means an isolated incident. In fact he told me that almost everything shot by everyone -at least where he was -is used for bait to shoot something else, or left to rot. Seems the money brought in helps keep them fed more than the meat would???
