3D Score?
Can anyone give me an idea of what you think a once a week 3D league shooter might score on a 30 target course (scored 5-8-10-12)? I'll explain later, just wondering if you could throw some numbers out. Much apppreciated.

RE: 3D Score?
Too many variables,shooter,class,range etc.
When I was at my best,I would not be happy with anything below even, on a course that had 12 rings, even being all 10's.(300) I will say though, there were many days I came home not happy.
I was a 280 to 290 shooter on a course that did not have 12 rings and I shot open class.

RE: 3D Score?
Ok so I little lower than TFOX's estimate since he is an excellent shooter! The reason I'm asking is because I was checking out the league averages at the range today. Personally, my second time shooting 3D, I shot a 216 so I wanted to compare that. But, I was really suprised at the scores for the past few weeks in this little league. The were a ton in the 320's with some two man teams at almost 650. The league average was something like 260-270. Now, I know with a little practice 260 is more than do-able for me. But, no way I'm shooting 320-330. Now mind you this is only a 25 yard range with the longest diagonal shots being maybe 35 yards. The yardages aren't marked but they are fairly easy to figure just by knowing this. Now, I am pretty sure these were not handicapped scores but now that I think about it, thats some pretty damn scores. You think it's possible?

RE: 3D Score?
Those scores are completely doable within what you have given us as the range setup.I never reached the level to be able to shoot 20 - 30 up (30 up is getting into national level good on any course)on any course but was able to shoot up scores on a regular basis,WHEN I PEAKED.I wasn't peaked for very long before I burnt out.
Some simple basics and you can achieve your goal VERY EASILY.When I started out,my goal was 270 from the hunter stake.I surpassed that to about a 280 then I jumped classes but really wasn't any better for a while.I just hit a plateau that I thought was impossible to better. Then a coach gave me some pointers,I learned a few things about equipment, form and fit AND I started learning back tension and I really started to get better but the hard work really wore me down and I burnt out.

RE: 3D Score?
Go over and check out some of the scores from the ASA on ranges outside with low corner 12's with a maximum of 45 yards on the open shooters.Granted those will be 40 target courses but they are also outside in the elements at much longer distances.
