I don't mean to hijack this thread but I gotta ask.

I have asked this before but why is it such a shame when a buck with large antlers dies but when a doe or small basket rack buck dies it doesn't get the same "what a shame", "I hate to see one like that die", we see the [:@][:'(][>:]faces,etc... etc...

Are we that greedy about bone? Why isn't it a "shame" when someone finds a doe skull covered in moss?
I just thought it would be interesting to share the pictures with you guys, if you want me to start making threads whenever i find a dead animal then let me know

Thats a nice one! It's a shame when any deer is found dead like that.

That's not what mean and i didn't ask to detract fro it being a heck of a buck.
At no time do people share the same sorrow when they see a dead doe. Not just on forums or here. It seems to be a hey look, a dead deer.

Great find butI don't think it is a bad thing that it was dead unless it died from being gut shot or something like that.

Well Bigbulls.. there have been recent posts about finding dead and/or dying does. (Mine, GMMATS...even Rob chimed in on one he had to put down this summer) They all get to us..They are all a shame, It's just not many people are gonna lug home a doe skull, or get the camera and go take pics of it.

I understand your point of view..it's not that we think less of does and fawns or everyday bucks when unnatural or even naturaldeath occurs.

But yes these true Giants fuel our dreams, when one dies, we feel cheated..another doe is right around the corner..another Giant?? Who Knows...

I don't know about anyone else, but the ratio of dead bucks to dead does that I find in the woods, well, dead bucks are a enough of a rarity that they do cause a person to take notice.

So far this year I have found 3 dead does while out looking for sheds. From what I can tell by brushing away the snow and ice (and a good portion of the carcass is still embedded in ice) all three were fawns.

Last year I believe we found 5 dead does, and 1 big buck (for our area) guess which head we brought out of the woods? Just the nature of the game I guess, all of the dead wasted deer were a shame.
