Thats a real shame. We had a bad EHD outbreak in SW PA.
My buck actually turned out to be an EHD victim that survived. He was 75-80 pounds lighter than he should have been.Every bone in his body showed through his hide. I shot him on Jan 11 and he was starting to recover but I dont think he'd have made the winter. 4 1/2 years old scored 120 6/8 with two broken tines

Not sure about the spelling?.....but it is Enzezootic Hemmoraging Disease.Every where they had the drought conditions this summer the deer have been getting it from drinking stagnant water and there are fly/gnats that bite them and infect their blood and they bleed to death internanly. They usually go to a water source and die or even die in a pond,Lake or water source! We have found several dead deer around our area and it seems to affect the Bucks mostly?
Nice finds...but what's EHD

WOW BT thats wild, sounds like that buck had a rough road, and to survive it, WOW. my buddy has a pet doe, she came down with it and was on her death bed, he was going to put her down but his wife would not let him, she laid in a water trough and eventually bounced back but never fully regained all her weight.
