Default My Homemade Cresting Lathe

Well I finally got my cresting lathe up and running! I used an old sewing machine motor and the foot switch, some scrap wood from the shop at one of my theatres and some stain that was laying around!

Motor= $12.00
Foot Switch=$15.00
Testors paint=$7.50
Hairline Camel hair Brush=$3.00
1/8 Camel Hair Shade Brush $3.50
----------------------------------------

$41.00 dollars and some change and I'm cresting arrows!

I was having problems at first with the dimmer switch, all it would do was turn it on/off no speed control. Then I tried a ceiling fan speed control, same thing. I then said hell with it and I'll try the Foot switch from a sewing machine. I'm so glad I did. Much easier to control, tap it and the arrow spins enough times to get it keep it under control and stop on a dime! I thought this way was going to be a hassle but much to my surprise its much better! Anyway I took a few pics and I'm going to crest some arrows and see how it goes!

Nice, I'm going to build one, one of these days. I'm liking the look of crested arrows and yours, just fantastic!

Nice job! I made one with a sewing machine motor & foot switch and some old lumber and it looks like crap compared to yours!

Here are a few arrows I finished in an hour! I still might crest over the Carbon Express logo with the same pattern but just bigger to cover it up!
