whatever makes me happy at the time.
As far as bucks go....I concur.

I have "goals" that I want to meet RE: herd reduction.....but "standards, I'm finding, take the fun out of deer hunting FOR ME.

I am going to have FUN, next year.

If it's brown it's down. You can't eat antlers.

A doe when the opportunity presents itself. Buck standards have moved up considerably even though I would not consider myself a trophy hunter, because there are not alot of trophy bucks around here!

That's the key!! Whatever you go after is unimportant, but keep the Fun in it and you'll be Bowhunting for years

With a bow I will shoot a nice 2.5 year old buck or any doe that gives me a shot. With my gun I try to raise my standards to nothing younger than a 3.5 year old buck.

I'll shoot any Doe without spots if I really need the meat! This year I let a few young ones and 1 older Doe walk during the late season. Didn't need the meat. I have set somewhat of a standard for bucks, he needs to be bigger than the last one I killed! But at the same time it depends on the situation and the experience of that moment, when and what he is doing when he is in range! I pretty much kill Deer for my own experience and proud of what ever I kill!
