Waterproof jacket
Hi all,
I'm looking foward to buy a waterproof jacket for bowhunting. I need one which is good for cold weather ( 0-10'C) and for warm days (10-20'C).
I'm having good clothes but nothing against the rain!
If It can be in Predator/enigma/... camo, it will be great!
Thanks all!
Francis

RE: Waterproof jacket
If it's really raining out, I'd recommend just go fishing, or watch tv or something. If it is only drizzle, mist, etc., just put on a wool jacket and go. If the temps are below freezing, it will be snowing, and layered wool is the way to go.
Bowhunting for deer in the rain is not a good idea, especially serious getting wet rain. A very high percentage of deer shot with arrows run out of sight before dying. You have to follow the blood trail to find them. If it is raining, it increases the chances of not finding a deeryou have killed. A drizzle or mist is ok, blood trail will usually last long enough to find the deer. In wet conditions, keep this in mind and be absolutely sure about the shots you take. Make sure your broadheads are razor sharp.
Maybe go out with conventional rain gear on, wait for rain to quit, take the rain gear off and hunt.

RE: Waterproof jacket
Check out Rivers West but don't plan on hiking in it unless you get the LAW stuff and even then, it is waterPROOF so it's not going to breath. There's no such thing as waterproof and breathable. If it breathes, it'll eventually wet through.

RE: Waterproof jacket
Gray Wolf Woolens offers jackets with Comformax and/or Liteloft linings to insulate as well as block the wind, and the Wolfskin fabric is about as water repellant as you can get without actually saying waterproof. I've sat in some pretty hard rains for extended periods of time, as well as still-hunted my way through some absolutely soaking wet foliage while elk hunting and never got wet wearing my Wolfskin.
