Colorado Elk Bowhunt
I am going to Colorado to bowhunt this fall and am looking at the Mt Zirkel wilderness area. I am looking for some feedback for anyone who has bowhunted this area. We are looking at the southern portion around Newcomb Creek and Round Mountain. Any input would be appericated.

I was a USFS backcountry ranger in the Zirkels back in the 1970's. Lots of elk. The Round Mountain area is pretty good, but the majority of the elk are back in there a couple miles. Unless you are a world class athlete, it will be tough packing them out. Have horses?

Thanks for the response. No I do not have hourses. I am planning to go out and scout at the end of June and hope to make contact with someone who would pack out if we did score. If you know of some contacts to talk to during my visit I would appericate it (for hunting the area or for pack servicies).
