Whats For Dinner? Pic
My last time out Bowhunting I decided to take what came along, now I had originally been out for a doe, coyote or turkey when along came this nice male opossum so I decided to take it and use it as bait for a coyote hunt and if that didnt work I could use the pelt for a indian ceremonial pipe cover Im gonna make, well no deer no turkey and no coyotes so I went home with my opossum. Walked in the door and told the hubby come see what I got with my bow, I lifted up the possum by the tail and he replied with a big grin" Look what you got for dinner honey"I told him there aint nothing like Hill Billy Hunting. Were gonna laugh about this one for years to come

Wohooo! Now there is a unique trophy that I bet not many bowhunters have taken! Let us know how you cook him up and how he tastes! I'd suggest lots and lots of garlic, and a gallon of lemonade or something to help wash it down close by!

That is a hunt to be proud of for sure!!! Let us know how dinner was. Maybe a little carp for an apetizer?? Just a suggestion

Well I don't know whether I should congradulate you or laugh! They are edible, but I have never tried one, I had a heck of a time with possums in one place I lived, they love dog food and I feed my dogs in the garage, they have to be one of the ugliest animals I have ever seen. That looks to be an average size possum for Va., is that a big one where you are at? I took one by the tail out of my garage that was twice the size of the one you got, twice, the third time I caught him in the garage I pitched him through my barbwire fence! Funny thing, he never came back.

Taz, I dont really know what is a average size for around here, dont see them around my house to much anymore, The biggest ones I see are along the side of the road where they belong. I had a encounter with one in my work room off the garage a few years back, the dogs had him cornered. Jeeze you ever see their teeth up close, their like big rats with sharks teeth, and they carry fleas.
You might as well laugh cause we are.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Mmm, Mmm...
possum' smothered in grits and taters. I have a few hunting partners from the day back in Alabama who would say skinning 'em is optional...
<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> (I never ate one)
Shoot often - Hunt always
