Guys I really apologize....but I'm not understanding, still!
If greg's photo has his deer getting credit for every inch of antler on his head.....why can't the one Scott pictured? Why do we have to subtract the abnormal points? Doesn't he get credit for them in his "gross"?
Greg...you say the buck in your photo has 138" of bone on his head. Is that his "gross"? Only reason I ask is.....why can't the buck in Scott's example get credit for every inch of antler on his "gross"? I honestly don't know.

Scotts could if thats how they scored them, Greg was just using his picture as an example of what he beleives should be the way they should score. Reason being you subtract abnormal points on a typical is because its a typical and not a non typical rack. The points are non-typical points, thus it don't count anything on a typical scored rack. If you wanted it to be scored as a non typical then you can have it scored that way instead.

That's why I didn't understand these comments.
And why I asked this back on page 1
155 gross, not counting abnormal points.
142 gross.. not counting your weird abnormals..
WHY would you not count the abnormal points in the "Gross"?

The pic I posted is a 9 point but his net score is that of a 6 pointer.

You guys are making it too complicated. Gross is total inches (yes abnormal points included)with no deductions.
My guess is 154"

Sometimes people confuse odd points with abnormal points. Odd points occur on 7, 9 11 and 13 pointers etc. These points are added to the gross score and then are subtracted out for the net score. Abnormal points are sticker points, drop tines, forks etc. These points are not added to the gross but are subtracted from the gross to obtain the net.
Example: you have a great 12 pointer, a 10 point with matching 4" forked g-2s. To arrive at the net score you subtract all the side to side differences and then subtract 8" for the matching forks.
My point is.... why subtract the forks?, they had nothing to do with the eveness of the other tines.

This is wrong for P&Y/B&C scoring. For typical deer you do NOT add the abnormal points to the gross score.
