maybe some changes in missouri
i read an article that the MDC is thinking about changing the 4-point rule statewide and instead of antlerless season being after gun season they want to put it in october (i think this would make a ton of guys shoot bucks in antlerless season)
i do not really like either of these ideas
lets hear what you guys think

Yep, and they are proposing to move the firearms season 1 week later. I'm happy w/ all of it, except moving the antlerless season to October. Keep the firearms hunters out of the woods as long as possible. BUT, mostly just for the northern half of the state. Most of the places I hunt aren't open for that anyway.
They are holding public hearings throughout the year, so voice your opinion. The changes won't take place till '09.

I'm not really opposed to the ideas. First, it would give me another weekend in early November to bowhunt without rifle hunting pressure. Second, because rifle season would be moved back a week, as a graduate student, my Thanksgiving break would coincide with rifle season. ( = 9 straight days of rifle hunting during prime time.)
But I do wonder what will happen to buck movement in November, if there is a firearms anterless season in October. Combined with urban antlerless, youth weekend, etc. But if it keepsthe population in check and involves more hunters, then it is probably worth it.
As for the antler restrictions... I'm undecided. I would think that the ultimate result would be fewer deer checked in, not necessarily fewer deer killed.

Yeah..I'm not too crazy about them moving the Anterless Season either, most Hunters around here will not shoot a Doe early in the Rifle Season because then you won't having the Bucks chasing after what Does you have on your property! The MDC is having meetings all across several counties in our area to see what our views are on the different proposed regulations.I think our meeting is around Jan 24 2008?
