First of all, not only would I, I did. Second, where can you get an I40 for $100? I would buy a second one at that price. The I40 (infrared) is usually around $200.

I'm a cuddeback no flash guy myself! My camera for the most part has worked very well. Excellent quality picture's and video's! Its a little spendy though, only draw back i can think of.

I don't think you are looking at an I-40 if it is only $100. The lowest price I've seen the I-40 is $189.99 but the lowest authorized price is $199.99. Some authorized online stores are throwing in free shipping with the $199.99 price.

Are you thinking of the D-40? Those are the low end moultrie cameras that are out right now for $100ish.

I would buy an I-40 for $200 (I just bought one) but not sure on the D-40. I like the older Gamespy 200's that used the 6volt rechargeables and would take a solar panel better than the D-40(I have 2 of those).

The D-40's have a "sleep" mode to save on battery life so they might work okay over bait but not as well on the trails.

The I-40 is getting good reviews though. 2 - 3 months battery life taking thousands of pictures and less than a 2 second trigger (some report closer to a 1 second trigger). It had some white out issues but those can be fixed with a software upgrade if you are going to be using your camera in a shady spot, but if you are using your camera in a spot with full sunlight then it sounds like the older software will give you more full color daytime pictures.

Dang it! Now I can't change my vote. There are some cameras of the same quality as the D40 that can be had for less money. It's not a bad camera, but overpriced for what it is IMO.

I think your poll is going to be messed up then. I voted Yes to get one when you had it listed as an I40, but I wouldn't vote yes for a D40.

I bought the D-40 on sale this summer, took it home, tested it out then exchanged it the next day. When in sleep mode it takes a couple of seconds to awake before it can take pictures, wouldn't work in my program, too many blank pics.

If you are looking at $100 or less I would look at the Bushnell trail scout cameras. They have a 1.3mp one that takes decent pictures that I've seen on sale as cheap as $35 on the day after Thanksgiving. I think they are normally priced around $65. They eat batteries pretty fast, but they have a pretty good trigger although they can fall asleep on you. You can do a battery modification on them and add an external battery and a solar panel for around $50 that would make them more useful if you can't check it regularly. I have one of the 2.1 Trail Scouts and it has never made it a full week on a set of batteries.
