Default Spearing Deer?

I was looking at the Alabama seasons and they have one listed in the bow seasons area of the website.
Anyone ever try this? A pic of the spear you or someone would use? I recall their was a special name used for this but can not rememeber.

Ive never heard of anyone using a spear for deer in AL. Ive seen them used to finish off wounded pigs and boar.

Wow you would have to be a olympic javelin thrower to get close enough to a deer in this neck of the woods right now. Sounds like a crazy way to hunt deer if you ask me.

Here ya go, from later in the manual. We used to joke about itin school but never saw or heard of anyone doing it or trying it. In Germany they used them quite a bit to finish off boars that had run into the thick brambles during drives. I cant remember what they called the spears but it was a funny word...Im sure Ill think of it.

SPEAR: DEER and FERAL SWINE may be taken by hand thrown spear during the open Bow and Arrow season on these species. The hand thrown spear shall have a sharpened blade a minimum of two inches in width. The spear shall only be hand thrown.

I can just imagine sitting in a treestand with a couple spears

I'd rather.....

Nah...I forgot whre I was for a moment.

If killing them with a bow is easier than killing them with a gun.....hell they must gut, drag, process and package THEMSELVES when you kill one with an atlatl.

Illegal in NC.
