Never tried it, don't have any intentions to do so, but have nothing against it. Below is spear point:

I think I'll just drop out of a tree, grab my half rack by the antler and have it mano y mano or this case, deero.

Respect!

ORIGINAL: Rhody Hunter

the atlatle is an old weapon before bows were around. should we have a rock throwong season too ? how about knife season ? heck lets be real macho and do it bare handed just a thought
Dont tase me bro![]I dont support any of those methods. I dont think one could kill a deer humanely enough for my tastes.

i saw it on tv once. I cant remember what he called it though. First he got a boar from a treestand at like 10 yards. He walked up to it when it was dead and threw the javalin again, it was a big heavy thing, just to show how much penetration and such that it had. I dunno if the dude got a deer though.

Google Atlatl Bob at BPS Engineering in Montana. I think he's been making them as long as anyone. They are great fun until tour rotator cuff gives out.

I think my man card is safe and sound and so will the deer be if spear season ever comes to Iowa. Doesn't sound like a season I would want to try as thick as the timbers are around here. Who knows maybe I could kill another oak tree though they don't move near as fast as a deer.

I have speared alot of carp in my life and now that is fun if you ask me but a deer??? The river that runs by where I grew up is about 9 inches deep in most spots but has alot of deep holes and all you have to do is get them to swim out of the holes then all you have to do is run after them and chunk yer spear at them. We got 26 one evening and the biggest was 36 pounds.
