I know everyone gets fed up with the Scentlok, bow vs. gun threads, etc,but you really don't appreciate what you have until you actually go the Deer Hunting forum and see the nonsense that goes on there. For example, they are currently discussing the relative merits of smoking marijuana while deer hunting. And yes, someone felt that marijuana smoke was a deer attractant. Huh. Five pages worth of marijuana and deer hunting...Great. Can't wait to have those guys hunting next to me.

So, to all of the mature hunters in the bowhunting forum, my hat is off to you.

Sorry for the rant. Just wanted to get that off my chest. [:@]

I read that, and all of the posts that I saw were saying that it's a horrible idea and that they don't do it. It's not like they were advocating it, they were saying how stupid it was...

Englum - Maybe I'm not reading what you are reading. Let me copy and paste it for you.

I've never been hunting while drunk, but I've actually had to put a joint down while hunting because a deer walked out. I shot a doe this year while high as hell on some dank weed and a few lortabs. It was intense and I enjoyed it. I hunt on private property and if I shoot my face off it's my own fault. I'm not endagering anyone but myself so I don't have a problem with it. Besides, I'm more normal high than I am sober...
I have a few buddies who claim to smoke weed and deer hunt. They actually claim that the deer are attracted to the scent and they seem to come to the smell. I can vouch that I did see deer eating marijuana plants on a farm from a friends scouting cam. I think he was more worried about his pot getting stolen, than the deer eating it, but deer do eat weed. it's true! I would never do it, but it would be interesting to see a study if it attracts deer or not.
actually it is decriminilized in few states where u can have under an ounce in possesion and also it is not a danger it is a relaxation drugall these ppl out there think its so bad and makes you incapable of logical thinking and common sense well maybe if u opened ur mind a bit u would understand
and second of all it doesnt alter your mind thats acid or shroomsit actually makes you more aware of ur surroundings its an enhancment thats why u get munchies because ur sense of taste getsENHANCED as well as other senses maybe u should try it
My cousin is a average "pothead" and he got pretty mucha full scholarship to a great college and is one of the smartest ppl i knwo and is deffinatly not ruining his life by smokin dope

So nowif you pick up a gun to hunt with youare apot head and you base that off a single thread from an internet forum? Way to show how bow hunting has matured you...this is a whole new evolution of elitist.

I apologize if my post was demeaning to gun hunters. As a rifle hunter myself, that was not what I intended. I've spentconsiderably more timewith my .270 than with my bow.

I was simplyhighlighting the difference between the two forums. The marijuana discussion is in the deer huntingforum. That isan observation. If that offends you or somehow makes me elitist...so be it.

Well Mizzou maybe I should have said the majority of them said it was stupid, cuz here's what I seemed to remember reading, granted they are towards the front.

[hr]

in my opinion it put's the person thats smokeing it and everyone around them in danger.i know a guy that was high and had a 30-30 in his car and went to get his gun out of the car and the gun went off destroying the transmission on his car.

[hr]

why would you even wonder if it's ethical when you know it's illegal? smoke'n dope is illegal in every state, the hunting part shouldn't even come into play. i'm sure there are hunters that do alot of illegal things but i don't need nor want to know if it's ethical or not.

[hr]

Just as much of a danger as alchohol

[hr]

Yep. Don't take the gun out of the case after you've had a drink. Don't take the gun out of the case if you've been smoking dope. Either way, you're an idiot if you do

[hr]

i've known a lot of hunters, and a lot of pot smokers, but nobody who was both. its terrifying to think of a chemically altered person with a firearm.

[hr]

Iam against anyone haveing a firearm of any kind while under the influance of anything weather it be one beer/drink or one puff off a joint........

[hr]

Smoking dope is never a good thing IMO!

[hr]

you don't drink and hunt. you don't smoke and hunt. keep your mind unaltered when you're using weapons. leave that stuff for when you get back to camp and are celebrating the hunt.

[hr]

Smoking marijuana and having a weapon is stupid

[hr]

Lets make this real simple...all judgments aside...If you hunt while being intoxicated, then you are a complete idiot. That means you have no regard for the animals you are hunting or for any other person.

[hr]

I think we both can agree thats it's just ignorant all together.

I visit both forums daily, for hours at a time. I see more BS threads in the bowhunting section than I do the deer hunting forum. And usually the ones in there are started by someone that visits both.

I think it was started as a joke, would be my guess anyway. I wouldn't know for sure since I didn't bother opening it and looking at it. Probably what you should have done since it got you so upset.
