RE: When is the best time to hunt soybeans
If there are standing beans those deer will be on them. If not now, once January and February get here definitely. Check the nearby woods. If there are still acorns on the ground the deer will stick to them right now because they don't have to expose themselves, but once they are gone they will be on those beans hard. If you have a lot of bean fields around check the ones that are tucked away from roads, have some topography, or secluded corners. The deer will still be spooky from all the pressure and prefer to stick to food sources that don't overly expose them.

i been wondering about beans as well...this was the first year anyone planted beans in the area....sure enough, i had 10 acres or so just outside of my honey hole...plus the corn and alfalfa. buddies saw them in there while spotting in the summer...but that was it for the most part...
they left them standing and i walked around the fields the other day and they dont look hit too hard at all...not like our corn fields half fallen down...
is it possible the deer dont find the beans as a food as of yet?? these were the first fields EVER planted in the area...noone has seen them eat them...just stand and bed in them...i dont know..someone told me they heard they wont touch them till they brown out...which came and went already lol...

Mauser...That could be possible...Sooner or later the deer should eat the beans..
We own 3 farms and plant beans, in the early season the deer hammer the beans, even when we have cut corn planted on the same farm...They hit their most preferred food source first...My brother has a 5 acre field of beans that he left for the deer, he is still seeing deer in them...
Beans are also a good bedding area when they are still green, last year I watched 6 different deer on a morning hunt in the beans...They would get up and feed for 30 minutes or so, then lay back down for an hour or so then get back up and eat again...

RE: When is the best time to hunt soybeans
I share with you our experience from last year and this year in IL. We hunt public land and one small farm. Last year when we arrived the farm still had standing beans that were brown. We hunted the farm in the evenings. The deer started pouring into the fields about an hour or so before dark. I could hear them popping the beans as they ate them. It sounded like rice crispies in a bowl of milk when I was a kid!
When we arrived this year, the beans had all been cut on the farm except for a bit around the edges and in a couple of the corners. The deer were still coming out into the fields, but they came out at least a half hour later than last year.
Both years we were hunting the last few days of October and the first 5 or 6 days of November.

BRY, I have2 fields in mind. All are very secluded. 2 arebordered by timber on3 sides and a swampy lake behind a narrow row of timbers onthe otherside.
I posted a link to an arial image of the property. If you find that link, youll spot the 2 smaller fields to the bottom of the page.
