Some intresting new Summit stands coming out
The question came up on another thread about new Summit stands, so I figured I would ask them. Here is what I found out. They have a new line 0f foldableclimbers, these are supposed to fold down to 5 to 6 inches for easy packing. I guess the only complaint I ever had with my current stands are that they don't "pack" as easy as some, but this would seem to fix that problem! I have also been looking for some type of climbing sticks, and they have some coming out as well. they will attach with a cam and buckle system and a set of 4 should be able to get you close to 18 feet up( plenty for me as I don't like to get real high<img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>) they also have some new hang on stands They are supposed to retail around 79 to 99 dollers depending on which model. I really love my copperhead hang on, but It will be intresting to see how these stands look. They don't have the website updated yet, but they are sending me a catalog that will have pics and specs for all the new stands and climbing sticks. You can email them and get a catalog for yourself if intrested. I figured with as many tree stand questions that come up some of you would be intrested in what I found out.

Thanks for the update 5shot. If they come out with foldable climbers that are also quiet, that should make Summit even more appealing.

I talked with their production manager a few weeks ago out on the wildlife refuge that I hunt
(Summit is just down the road in the next town over, where I work)
he said they also purchased the Fallwoods/Seat o the pants harness company (the one they have been suppling with their stands) - that company is just up the highway a ways in Huntsville
I noticed his harness was camo instead of the plain brown like mine came with. I don't know if it was older of if that will be something new they are planning.

My cobra ain't bad at all as far as packin in. I just push the cables all the way in, and run my tie down strap length ways instead of across. that makes it a lot quiter packin in.
I doubt I'll be up gradin for a few years, i really like my cobra.
only thing, is the coating has worn off the cables, and it's perty noisy hookin to the tree.

Nothing is going to be perfect. You just have to decide what's more important to you. For me I'll take a bulky comfortable stand over the compact miserable stand any day. Anything to keep me in the tree longer is a good investment. Oh, I just got the summit cobra its a little bulky but I still love it.

eddiee, I am with you on the comfort vs packing! If a stand is not comfortable enough for me to sit for several hours without feeling like a torture tests, I don't want any part of it!

I've never used a summit stand but, I pick up a treelounge this past year it,s a little heavy but you can sit in a tree all day if you take food, drink and a "P" bottle.I'll tote heavy if I can sit still and be comfortable all day.
