Default Why Parabolic???

Why do people here in the US and North America use Parabolic shaped feathers more often than Shield cut? This has always fasinated me, since there is no scientific evidence that one is better than the other. So let me know what you use (Shield Cut or Parabolic) and why you use it and if you shoot a modern or traditional bow. I think it will be very interesting to see the results. Also put in your 2 cents and let me know why you think Parabolic are more popular here in North America.
Thanks

Your'e right there is no difference in flight between the two styles. You can look at Fast Flights web sight where they explain everything. I have personally looked for shield backs just to have something different and have a hard time finding availablity. i think it all comes down to convenience.

I personally like to shoot shield cut, there is just something to me that makes them look better. I don't know. the only difference I have noticed is maybe some clearance issues in certain cases but thats it. I like to have my arrows done up with eze crests and shield cut feathers. It really gives them a sharp look.

4" sheild feathers on a 25" 2312 witha 100 grain magnus head , its relatively inexpensive and works great out of my setup .

We all have different oppinions , if we did'nt the world would be a BORING place

I use 5" left wing helical base cut Parabolic shaped feathers. I just like the looks and that's what I learn to burn in the old days and when cut feathers came on the market I just switched to them. Burning really smelled up the place.
I don't know if they fly better because of the shape but I think, and correct me if Im wrong here (like I need to add that) don't parabolic have more surface area in comparison to feather of the same lenght but other shapes?

Work hard and be true to yourself.

Shields "may" be somewhat quieter in flight over shield cuts since they have a rounded, as opposed to a sharper end. But they are too plain for my tastes, so I chop or burn my feathers in the shape of shield, Pope & Young, or medival styles.

As far as everything I have ever read or heard there actually is not difference as to the way the shield cut and parabolic cut make your arrows fly. And actually in comparison I would think that the shield cut would have more surface area than the parabolic but hey that is just what my eye sees. This is such a great topic it is very interesting to hear everyones 2 cents
