What next?
As some of you may know I've been having trouble making ends meet financially. I like to say I hunt for the meat. We eat a lot of venison, I butcher my own and try to keep the cost down but is still expensive. If I didn't love to hunt, I probobly spend less money on food in the long run. Lately scraping $20 for gas to go hunting just hasn't been in the budget. The weather hasn't exactly cooperated either. I'm not driving an hour or two to go sit in a tree while the winds are 30-40 mph. If I have to pick and choose when to hunt, it's going to be in prime weather.
Well yesterday was the day I could go hunting. Been a painfull couple weeks, I was feeling good about getting out to hunt. I went out, saw a buck chasing 2 doe, stalked to with in 35 yards of a nice buck and 1 doe right at closing time. Didn't get any shots but over all was a great afternoon.
I walked back to my truck where I met another 2 friends that came out hunting later than I did. We talked about who saw what and where, they drove off. I got into my truck, backed up and my truck didn't feel right. Got out and looked, my right front tire was flat. It's dark, I've already changed out of hunting cloths into street cloths and it was a bit cold. I changed the darn tire and went home.
This afternoon I finally went to go look at the tire, see if it can be fixed. I don't think anyone can fix stab wounds in ther side wall. That's right, someone tried to slash my tire about 15 times before they actually sunk the knife in far enough to deflate the tire. No doubt in my mind that the puncture marks were done by a sharp pointed hunting knife!
I don't know who or why. I know my friends truck wasn't touched, not sure if it was done before of after they arrived. The way my truck was parked I didn't even notice it was flat while changing cloths or packing up my gear, apparently either did my friends. I do not trust 1 of the 2 friends but also don't think he'd slash my tires for any reason nor would the other cover up for him. I don't think they did it but can't rule it out.
Anyways, the tires aren't cheap. No idea how I'm going to replace them. Not only did they flatten the left front, they tried to flatten the right front also. There are about 5 puncture marks in the right tire but who ever did it was too big of whimp to flatten the tire. 1 hard corner, 1 big rock, that side wall will go too. Financially, my deer season, both gun and bow have been slashed.
I don't dare turn this into my insurance, I had a hard time finding anyone to insure me after all my hunting ger was stolen in sept of 06. 07 my homeowners insurance is 3 times more expensive than I paid before the robbery. I've got job interviews lined up this week and next, I shouldn't have been out hunting, now I can't even depend on my vehicle. My doctor says to avoid stress. Hunting is my stress relief, and is now also my source of stress.
Can I put innertubes in the slashed tires? The right front is still holding air, got me home but don't know how deep the cuts are. The other has at least 1 1" cut all the way through. Any one in Wisconsin have a pair of 235/70-16 AT truck tires for a 97 ford f150 4x4 cheap? very cheap?

RE: What next?
That sucks big time!
You know, I think I've actually got a couple of tires that size. Don't know what they are worth??? The shipping from Kansas to Wisconsin would be pretty steep. You could probably find a used tire or two much cheaper.

Man, I am sorry for your misfortune. I hope your upcoming job interviews turn out for the better. I dont know about there where you live but here, out west, we have what are called Les Schwab tire centers, they are a regional chain I believe. Anyway, they always keep used tires around that have come in off of cars. I, in past times when finances were tough, bought real decent used tires to get by. 20$per tirefor 4 tires I remember once for my ole 76 highboy ford 250. Maybe you have a tire center around that you could call and ask about used... I hope things work out for you, they will, hang in there and good luck.
