Just took the path feature on Google Earth too, and found out the deer only went roughly 150 yards before good blood ran out.
Also, just measured the amount of arrow that went in the deer, and came up with 9 1/2 inches.

Yeap, I have had the same thing happen. Just below the spine, and above the lungs. I have heard of this happening many times. It is SO disheartening because it seems like a shot that will do the job. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I guess just shoot lower next time. What county are you in?
Good luck!

That is about the same spot I shot her. If she wouldnt have been in the open it would have been alot harder to find her. She did have some blood spots about 10 feet from her. But there was none for the last 45 yards.

Well just concluded another 4 hour search. We have now looked for over 15 hours, and still no more sign. My dad did jump up a tall narrow 8 pointer about 400 yards from where we had last found blood. The buck I shot I described to be a tall 8 about as wide as his ears. If it was my buck, then he is going to live.
We grid searched about a 800 yard radius, looking for blood, hair, tracks, or deer. Nothing positive to come out of this. I'm off all weekend, and Mon, Wed, Fri, and next weekend. Going to take the rest of the day off and tomorrow off, and get back at it Monday morning.
Cold front moving in so you will find me perched up in a treestand.
