RE: Disgusted with myself
Greg, I saw you found the buck a few hours ago, but had to get the little one out trick or treating. Looks like you got yourself a Halloween treat buddy. I gotta tell you I'm real happy for you that you found that buck. I was confident you would find it, but until you are sitting there you just never know.
Congrats, he is a monster. Great job.

Guys,
Sorry I'm late. Had to show him to a few people. [&:]
I found him right away, in less than 20 minutes. He was 19 yards from the creek and 25 yards from the cornfield. Coyotes nibbled on one of the hind quarters a bit, but not too bad. I did not hit the stomach or the liver. I hit the spleen, went through the diaphram and pierced a lobe of the far side lung. I'm glad I waited because with the coyote damage so minimal (for this area) and if was still warm, I figure he might have expired around midnight. Give or take a few hours.
He's quite a bit bigger than I thought![:-]
I am usually on the conservative side when telling people how big I think my deer is. Plus, things look smaller to me when I'm 23' up in a tree. I didn't have a real good look at him when I shot either. I just knew "SHOOT!"
Looks like he'll gross in the low 160s, 13"g-2s. I'll score him in a few minutes and let you know.
Again thanks to all. Here's a few pics.
