Last Day - Way Cold - Unfavorable Wind - Do U Go?
Well how 'bout it?
Thursday's the last day for bow in Illinois.
Here in Lake County, it'll be very cold 0 or less with the wind. Winds not exactly in my favor for my stands.
Heck - last day of the season - I'm going to be either in a stand or on the ground. Gotta do it. A least a few hours.
Went out today & saw 8 does. 4 had white "Socks" - kinda like some horses do. None really made shooting distance.
Where have all of the bucks gone. Have seen nothing but does...hmm.
Good luck to those of you still hunting.

Justinl, I live in Kankakee county IL. Ive have been hunting since last Thursday and only seen 2 bucks. That was right at dark. I went to a new area with a friend last night and seen a fawn. I have been sitting on the ground the last couple of days to get out of the wind.
Get on the downwind side of the trail and be ready to shoot.
Goodluck

Heck yes you go.
I have been going out every night for the lat week and a half. On average I see atleast 20 out in the field coming in to feed.
Last friday night I had 25-30 walk by and I got a shot at a doe. That group had about 8-10 year old bucks. Saturday night, about 40 went buy and there were atleast 14 bucks in the group. 3 were wall hangers. I let one fly at one of the big guys, but overcompencated for my miss the night before. I shot low on the doe and high on the buck.
I know this may sound weird, but I want a strong wind tonight. The stronger the better. We pretty much know which direction they go with a strong wind out of different directions. I got some distances marked where I sit now, so I am ready for a strong NW wind.

saw a little 4 pt last week. b big bucks are still hidin out here.
I hunted 6 evenins, did not see a deer. the deer I'm seein are comin back to bed up early mornin 7:15 -7:30. got a doe, same day i saw the 4 pt.if he'd been legal, I'd probly have stuck him to this late in the season.
I'd go for sure, never no, the wind might switch directions.

YUP, you got to go. There is no question about it. It's tradition. As far as the wind.... I can't believe all your stands were designed for the "SAME" prevailing wind. You must have one somewhere... or find some brush or a blowdown to hide in. I sat in a tree last night with all kinds of clothes on. Windy as all get out and down right frigid by dark. You have to go. IF you don't it's like a curse. My wife informed me last night she's having this colon0scopy done the last day of the season. I have to driver her and bring her home. SOOOOOOOOOooooo... my morning hunt is ruined... but it's OK cause I can be there the last half our of the last day of the season. It's tradition.

a day out in bad wind is better than not getting out at all. Take your chances and get out there. 100% chance of not getting anything if you stay in.

You don't know, if you don't go! I have taken two nice wall hangers when the rest of my hunting buds sleeped in, and it being the last day of the season you must go.

I agree with the crew. The buck I shot this year- a 10 point- was shot right after dawn on a windy wicked day in Ia. I almost rolled over that morning. I hunted on the ground because the wind was wrong and it turned out fine. Because the wind was so strong he came within 7 yards and I nailed him. I see more deer in crappy cold weather.

I hunted the last day in IA. Its was cold and windy. I saw a ton of deer, but picked the wrong stand. I had to watch 13 does pile past another stand. Oh well.
