what should I do about this? long sorry

RE: what should I do about this? long sorry
You aren't being dirty, you're hunting the situation. If he had oaks and the deer trail lead by your stand to his oaks, you'd hunt that trail. You can take advantage of the cornpile, or you can make the deer move to your food plots. It isn't like you're leaving an old t-shirt in the cornpile. Remember, if he'd wanted to respect your hunting area the cornpile would be in the middle of his property. His objective is to draw the deer from your hunting property to his. There's nothing wrong with fighting fire with fire, as long as you do it politely with a smile on your face.
Also, if you've never hunted a cornpile, it isn't what it's made out to be. Some think you just walk out and shoot a deer whenever you want to and that isn't the case. Deer catch on fast at a cornpile, at least they do around here. By the way, I put a feeder out after a few weeks and everything cleared out. It seems like the deer are scared to death of it.

Ok. This is what gets me. You act as if the man is doing something wrong. (if baiting is legal) Then he isn't doing anything wrong. Its his land. He owns it. You don't own the land you are hunting on and even if you did, again its HIS land.
Honestly, I can't stand when people have your mentality. You act as if he is "doing you wrong". Who says that he hasn't been doing the same thing WAY longer than you've been hunting your land?
Seems to me that you should just move on or just hunt on the other side of your property.

Thanks Beezer. I think I will talk to him first but, I see your point. If he wanted to be nice he wouldn't have built that god awful, giant platform on the edge of his property and surounded the thing with corn. He actually cut the tops off of 2 threes and anchored to a third tree. The thing is honestly 12' x 12'and, wrapped with camo burlap. I know he isn't within the law using that platform but, it isn't worth turning him in.

I would either stick it out and hunt when you are now or move your stand a little further away from the obvious corn pile, some people have no respect for other Hunters.

No respect for other hunters? ?? WTF...this guy is on HIS PRIVATE LAND!!!!
You are the one who doesn't have respect. You move in and think you should change the way the other guy hunts. ON HIS LAND!!!!
Man...some of you guys need to sit back and think.

Tom, please read the rest of my posts. I said he wasn't doing anything wrong. I was trying to come up with a good solution for both of us. It was never my intention to force him to change. I just wanted to find a solution that was beneficial for both of us. The only thing he is doing illegal is hunting out of a home made stand. You attacked me for no reason. I am sure he has been doing this for a while . I only got permision to hunt this land this year and , I am sure the monstrosity o a stand didn't go up over night.

If you can be diplomatic about it, tell him that spreading that much bait is unhealthy for the deer and aids in spreading disease. The deer all eat from the same pile and share diseases. Just like people all touching the same surface and all getting the same cold.
Because of TB and other diseases, in Michigan, you can only put out 2 gallons of bait in a minimum 10' x 10' area.
In the end though, since there is no regulation in Ohio for how much bait you can use, you may just have to move on. As others have said, it is his property.

I am not attacking you.
I don't see the point in your thoughts. You got permission to hunt this land. The adjoining land owner is hunting his land as he sees fit legally. You move onto the land and see a "problem" in his method of hunting b/c you say that it is messing you up? Give me a break. Get over it or don't hunt the land.
And some more information. Living here in the south all my life, I know a thing or two about using corn and 99% of the time a deer will walk through corn to get to green browse.

He put the stand up lastyear. He just started baiting it this year. Prior to this year , he was gun hunting during bow season. His wife would call the DNR everytime someone was hunting nearby. They could never get my buddy{the land owner that gave me permision to hunt his land} because he was always legal. This guy is no saint{which is why my buddy told me to be careful of him. He is trying to do things right this year. Why wouldn't I try to work with him on that? Here is a solutionfor you Tom; I pull my stand out, and call the DNR on his homemade stand. That way nobody wins. But it would be O.K. by you because I am following the laws and I'm not telling him what to do with his land.

If there is something illegal going on. Contact the DNR and let them know.
But if not, then its like I stated...its his land so leave him alone.
This happens all the time here in the South. Someone from another area moves in and doesn't agree with "baiting" or what have you so they try to start stuff and try to get it changed. If you don't like it, you don't have to hunt. The other guys has a right to hunt how he wants as long as its legal. JUST LIKE YOU DO!!!!
Dude, I have a situation that is far worse than yours. We own 18ac. on the outer corner of a 1,000ac that is owned by a pure *******. we have been at battle for years now. he even told me that (my property line is the state line) I was a sorry hunter and person b/c I hunted my land starting in Sept. and he couldn't hunt his until the end of Oct. I'm not even going to get into the details.
It is illegal to use a "homemade" treestand in your state? Define "homemade"???
