Default Taking a chance w/ a wrong wind.......

I suppose it's a "wrong"/"bad" wind....but I'll ask your thoughts.

Tomorrow morning.....winds are forecast to be out of the ENE @ 8mph. Now that's just perfect for where the deer will be coming from......but it's not exactly perfect for where they're going TO. My scent will be blowing towards their bedding area...though not directly into it.

I'm going to set up on the corner.....outside a horse pasture. The flks who own the pasture have a crew that comes in and mows it every few weeks. How do the deer distinguish my scent from the guy who's on the mower (I think they don't). I know they still utilize this pasture as a feeding ground (clover), and I'm wondering how much harm I cn really do??????

I'll be 200yds from one dwelling and 350yds from the house that owns the pasture. Would you worry about this, much?

No. Wind speed/direction is also different inand around the forest. The 8mph they indicate is 8mph across an open field, not in the forest. I pay close attention to the reported wind speeds/directions and have found that the deeper into the woods you go, the less they matter if the wind speed is 10mph or under. So, if you are even just 20yds into the woods you likely will not see the 8mph wind.

I have to think that even at 60 deg......the thermal will be on my side in the morning, too. As long as I'm out by 10:00, or so....and am clean going in and out....I hope to not disturb the area. It's really a good little spot.

waste no time asleep.
