Who keeps a bowhunting log? Looking for suggestions....
I used to keep one for a few years, our PC crashed and I lost all of them (3 years worth).... Out of irritation and aggravationI didn'tkeep one the past two years... I decided that I am going to start keeping one again this year........
I got a little constructive criticism from Mobow and implemented his suggestion.... I am just looking for more ideas to add to mine before it gets to late into the season.
Let me know what you think I need to add. If you keep one post at least afew days worthso I can check it out.
Here is a copy of my log up to date......

RE: Who keeps a bowhunting log?
Oddly enough, while I was downstairs looking for something I saw a perfect log book so I quickly jotted down my only sit for this year. We'll see how long that lasts..
Of course I can go back to through my HNI journals the last few years. It doesn't tell all but gives me a good idea.

This is more for record keeping than anything.

RE: Who keeps a bowhunting log?
I keep a detailed log in MS Excel spreadsheet.
I use Excel b/c it allows me to do quick math - total deer, total bucks, total shooters, total hours on stand, deer per hour, bucks per hour, shooters per hour...
I keep the same basic notes - hours in stand, bucks, does, notes, wind, weather, temp, stand site, etc...
If it matters to anyone, I'm averaging 1.162 deer per hour (dph)this season. That's up from last year's whopping 1.091 dph.
It's not too late to add another column, so I might start taking note of the solunar peak times, just to see if there's any long-term correlation there. Obsessive? Probably.
It's nice to comparepast years to the currentyear... etc...

I thought of something else concerning the weather. If it were pre cold front, post cold front, warm front, ect....and pressure. Whether it were high or low pressure, falling, rising or steady barometer....
Holy cow, I sure am glad I don't keep one of these......[&:]

RE: Who keeps a bowhunting log?
Hey guys I have one.
One I have been testing. It is a website you put your sightings in. Along with weather conditions etc, wind direction, moon phase. Crop field or mast your where hunting.
The next year you can run reports for area. Put in info
Location
Weather conditions
Wind Direction
Moon phase
Crop or mast
It will give you report on deer you have seen for the above location throughout the years.

the other half of my log I record everything deer sighted, type, hunt conditions etc. I do not have enough data in it yet, but my plan is to use the data gathered and refine my algoryms--for instance right now winddirectionis weighted 3, time of day and year 2, wind speed 1.5, temp & percip 1 etc.
